Chapter 5 · Nature Speaks the Divine

The Line

Cristina do Valle Mirrors of the Infinite

Remove your shoes… Walk barefoot with me upon the sand. Come to the edge of the breathing sea, And simply… be. Feel the breeze comb through your hair, The warm grains sift between your toes, The sunlight poured in trembling streams, The waves unfolding ancient prose. Fix your gaze upon the line, Where boundless ocean weds the sky. There I dwell, Beyond the pull of the tide, Beyond the mirage that veils the mind. There, In the hush where blue meets blue, I am whole, And so are you.
Reflection

This poem came to me as a meditation. I wrote it quickly, almost like breathing, and its simplicity felt like a prayer. The imagery of the horizon has always called to me; it’s not just a line but a threshold between worlds. As I wrote, I noticed how much of my mind is constantly tugged by tides, memories, worries, expectations, and how that horizon feels like a place outside of all that movement, a stillness beyond illusion.

The distortion this poem revealed was my tendency to complicate peace. I often think enlightenment or spiritual clarity requires great effort, when really it can be found by simply noticing: sand between toes, wind on skin, the infinite meeting the infinite. Writing this was a reminder that truth is quiet and already here; it doesn’t need my striving.

The Line became a symbol of non-duality, a dissolving point where separation blurs. Standing at the edge of the ocean, you are neither land nor sea; you are the meeting place. That’s what I wanted this piece to capture: a state beyond grasping, beyond illusion, where awareness itself is enough.
